2/14/2019 1 Comment Feburary updateThis month I have Finally focused on a concentration for my AP portfolio and found a theme for the 12 concentration pieces due. I have decided to do pieces inspired by the paper dolls that used to come in magazines and newspapers. I will be creating outfits and models on a painting to create original art that will make people reminisce on the fun they had playing with the paper dolls throughout of their childhood. I have been experimenting and taking risks with new materials such as fake flower petals to create a 3D effect in my art for pieces in my breadth portfolio. From here I will continue to create pieces to contribute to my final portfolio.I also tried a new technique this week for fun called paint pouring where you take a bunch of watered down paints and pour them over a canvas and it creates a marbled look. I think this can create so interesting backgrounds for pieces that I would like to continue experimenting with.

1/17/2019 1 Comment January UpdateIn art this month I have been working really hard to find my concentration. I have been struggling to make work that fits into my concentration, I have felt as though my work has been forced. This month I have developed a new skill of creating work, that is still original, that I have fun doing. I have been making dresses out of fake flower petals, and pasting them down in fun pattern. This not only fits into my concentration, but allows me to enjoy art. I think this has been a good thing for me to do because it has helped me reflect on my art and take a step back to see what I need to do, improve, and create. I think this will help me in the future because it made me realize why I do art and helped me destress.
12/18/2018 0 Comments December UpdateIn art class I have been focusing on finding my concentration and inspiration for my concentration so that I can start piecing together my portfolio. I have been working on creating original art so that I can submit it for AP. I have been searching around the internet and taking inspiration from my real life to create art specific to me. I have been taking some risks that, in all honesty, have not all worked out for me. I have tried new artwork and new styles so that I can be more original and creative, and a few times it did not work. From these experiences I have learned and grown and I do believe I have become a better artist from these failures.
11/19/2018 0 Comments November updateIn art this month I have been working many different projects. I have been creating original art by updating and modifying my summer work so that it is more original and to improve the quality. I have also been doing a lot of reflecting and collaboration this week to decide on an AP portfolio concentration. I reflected on my past artwork and collaborated with my fellow classmates and teachers to decide what was best for me. For fun this month, my friend and I followed along with a Bob Ross video and it was very interesting to try a new style of painting and add our own flair.
10/21/2018 0 Comments October UpdateIn art this month I have been working on a lot of projects. I have been developing a new skill of blind contour which I have come to actually very much enjoy. When doing blind contour you look at an object and draw it on paper or canvas without looking at what you are drawing. When you are done you are left with a abstract looking picture. The point of this is to learn to draw what you see not what you think you see because you have to observe and draw the shapes as you go (Botton two pictures(. We were also assigned a project in class to do charcoal portraits of ourselves and I found myself struggling on where to start and what to do. I solved this problem with blind contour because I learned to draw what i saw and to not think to much about it which helped me a lot. This month I also took on the job of revamping and “upgrading” my summer art pieces. I went through them one by one and assessed them to see what they needed to make them better quality and more original. (Top two pictures)
9/27/2018 0 Comments Starting off the yearSo far this year in art we have done a few projects to get the ball rolling. We started the year year off with a “selfie” that we made of ourselves using lines and shapes and a key that told us which line or shape to draw based on our personalities. We had to reflect on our own lives in order to create this piece of art so that we would draw our “selfie” as a correct representation of ourselves. The next project we did was a collaborative mural piece with the whole class. We had to make seven 3D hexagon drawing that were things our lives that represented us or of stuff we loved. Then we had to collaborate with others to make all of our hexagons together as one representation of the class. Then we developed new skills with a new project on drawing negative space. This is something i have never done before and at first it was very challenging but after it was a really cool technique and make me look at drawing objects in real life differently.
